Every flu season is different, and influenza infection can affect people differently. Millions of people get the flu every year; many are hospitalized and some die from flu-related causes every year. Make plans to get vaccinated early in fall before flu season begins. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that people get a flu vaccine by the end of October. During the month of September, we are focusing on flu vaccinations for groups and their employees.
How to Support Flu Vaccination at the Workplace?
- Review and share the attached flu toolkit information and resources with employees (flyer, poster, video animation).
- Communicate and promote educational pieces to employees on why they and their families should have a flu vaccination this fall.
- Encourage workers to see their doctor, visit a pharmacy, a provider that offers flu vaccination or conduct an onsite clinic.
- Use policies and incentives to encourage flu vaccination. Examples include offering flextime/paid activity breaks to employees that are getting their flu vaccination.
