Sun, Safety & Hydration

As the weather gets warmer and people spend more time outside, it is important to stay hydrated and protect yourself from the sun. Drinking plenty of water every day is good for overall health any time of year. Getting enough water every day is even more important when you are physically active, and it is hot outside. Dehydration can impact your thinking, drain your energy, and make you feel tired. Severe dehydration can lead to heat exhaustion and heat stroke, which can be deadly.

In addition to being well hydrated, it is important to protect your skin from too much exposure to the sun, which can lead to skin cancer. More people are diagnosed with skin cancer each year in the US than all other cancers combined. Staying in the shade, wearing long sleeves, a hat, and sunglasses, and using sunscreen are the best ways to protect your skin.
